MacBook Pro Not Detecting Display (HDMI nor VGA)

My MacBook Pro is not detecting the display, I've tried two different monitors and both an HDMI cable and VGA. Another Retina MBP has worked on the monitor with HDMI.

I've tried restarting/update/option for detect displays but still receive a no signal and the monitor shuts down.

When pulling the cable out the MBP screen does flash so I believe something may be working, however the monitor never mirrors the display.

I had a similar problem once. My external display was not working with a Display port adapter.

It turned out the adapter was not making a good contact with my MacBook Pro display port.

Solution: was to power off the MacBook pro and clean out the MacBook display port with a can of compressed air which I purchased at Walmart.

Something similar happened to my Mac Mini , not detecting the monitor after the update to MacOs Sierra . Only temporary solution was to reset NVRAM , each time I have to start. I restored ElCapitan with TM and the issue is gone. I guess we need to wait for next update.
